Video surveillance has been used for security purposes in a range of applications, both residential and commercial. Video Surveillance is also being used more and more for less threatening residential uses. Some homeowners would like to see the visitor at the front door, to know whether they want to open the door or not. This may because they are fearful, or maybe they simply want the convenience of knowing who is at the front door before leaving their upstairs study and walking the distance to the front door. Other homeowners, particularly owners of second homes, want to be able to visually check on their home from a distant location. Maybe they want to see that the house is being maintained as they expect, or maybe they simply want to live vicariously in the country from their downtown high-rise office building. Whatever the reason, video surveillance is becoming a larger requirement.
